Far known Murter feasts give the stamp to its tourist offer
The cultural summer in Murter is full of many music and stage performances,of sport, entertainment, cultural and religious happenings. There are number of concerts of the Dalmatian "klapa"-harmony-singing groups, drama artists, various folk groups. Threre are exhibitions, concerts of serious music, and of the utmost importance are the Murter feasts.
The whole Murter is one big stage and each part of the island puls by the long time ago past time and at the same time by the contemporarity, the rhythm of the new and old.
The traditional sailing regattas KORNATI CUP in April announces the beginning of the tourist season.
May is marked by the DAYS OF THE AMATEUR THEATRICALS in the town of Murter and also OUR LADY OF CARAVAGGIA in the town of Tisno.
THE FESTIVITY ON TARAC is held on the first Sunday in July when the pilgrimage by boats to the Kornati Islands is organized in the honour of OUR LADY OF TARAC
The folk festivity in Betina with a lot of music and folklore groups and rich and original gastronomy offer THE "BRGANJE" DAY is held on the first Sunday in August.
The FESTIVITY OF THE ASSUMPTION is traditionally celebrated on 15th August with a rich evening music programme.
At ST.ROCH'S , a votive day celebrated on 16th August there is a pilgrimage to the St.Roch's hill.
"LATINSKO IDRO" is the traditional regattas with the participation of the wooden sailing boats: gajeta and leut, held on 29th September in the honour of St.Michael, the patron saint of Murter.
As in the many other coastal towns so in the town of Murter February is marked by the CARNIVAL. The guests also participate in it. But the carnival is also held during the summer season with the same dynamic.
Worth to be mentioned is that the 150th anniversary of the LIBRARY IN MURTER has been celebrated recently.
